Physical Description
Ikkanil wears a bright forest green short-sleeve tunic w/ white undershirt, dark forest green pants and sleeves tucked into heavy brown leather boots and gloves. Left-hand glove has a small wooden replica of an archery target set in its palm. A hint of mithril can be seen from underneath his tunic around the collar, and a potion belt can be seen worn across his shoulder as a bandolier.
Ikkanil can usually be seen with a polished, faintly-blue irridescent longsword sheathed on his back, along with a longbow of a mahogany color, a quiver, and his most noticable possession: a very brightly reflective steel shield.
Ikkanil's Shield
Ikkanil's shield is steel, looking like a square with a triangle joined to its bottom. It has a boarder of black metal around a highly polished center area which covers 80% plus of the shield's exterior surface. The shield reflects light like a mirror (usually). people, objects, ect... are reflected, but the image is usually fuzzy. the shield could be polished into a mirror proper with some work.
Ikkanil is never without this shield, if it is ever destroyed he will have a new one made at almost any cost.
Background
Ikkanil was born on the fall equinox, 22yrs ago. He doesn't remember what city it was, nor does he care. He spent a few years at home, but was shortly sent to study with a tottering old half-elven wizard named Devna'ril who claimed that he had "potential", but generally failed to elaborate on the subject. This fellow taught Ikkanil magic, at least as often as he could hold Ikkanil's attention. Ikkanil does not remember his parents clearly, and has heard that at least one, and probably both, have died since he left home.
Generally, Ikkanil was more interested in the outdoors than his studies. He hunted, tracked, observed animals, and read tracts on nature, dungeons, and poured over maps rather than attend to his studies. Eventually, he managed to learn magic, though he was more interested in Planar maps and accounts than spellcraft.
Soon after mastering rudimentary magic, Ikkanil returned from a day or two of wandering to discover that the tottering wizard had managed, at last, to experiment himself into the afterlife. That happened on July 17th, 5 years ago. The wizard's remaining materials were seized by the local lords, and Ikkanil went to work doing what he did best -- being a sentry.
Opinions
Ikkanil is unimpressed by magicians, and even less impressed by magocrats. He's very impressed by arch-mages, fatespinners, geometers, and others who have mastered arcana with absolute ability. He agrees with rangers and druids on most points, though his attachment to the wild is not very strong. He finds fighters to be neither here nor there, and rogues to be too shifty for his taste. He likes bards, and likes to hear stories of anywhere he hasn't been. His taciturn nature keeps him quiet, though he can occasionally be convinced to share a story of his own. He finds monks to be inflexible, but respectable. He find barbarians uncivilized, unwashed, and difficult to relate to. He finds paladins grating most of the time. He's deferential to clerics who have a point, and completely incorrigible to those who try to justify something by faith alone (aside from their beliefs, of course).
Speaking of the Gods, Ikkanil isn't very taken with them, either. The limit of his religious belief is to leave an arrow stuck in the ground with a lit candle next to a tree on the night of his birthday as a prayer to Legelican, and a prayer to Urmb on the day his old adopted father died. He follows the Brunswienin a very informal way, leaving money at his shrines and occasionally praying to him for good weather. In general, Ikkanil is very casual and informal about religion.
Ikkanil makes few racial assumptions, He is used to humans and half-elves. He doesn't have strong opinions about the civilized races payday loans online either way, and finds people who do to be more than a mite irritating. He thinks most of the uncivilized races should be left alone, and should leave the civilized races alone. When they don't, they are suitable for little more than target practice.
Reputation
"The man with the Mirror-shield" is known for his sharp eyes, sharp ears, and sharp wits. He sees what previously went unseen, and then acts appropriately. His shield makes him highly recognizable, to those who've heard of him to begin with (which is not many). He's garnered a reputation as an adaptable, effective individual. He isn't very well known as a wizard, nor do many know he has any arcane talent at all -- but stories of his putting arrows in fleeing felons from football fields away owe more to true strike than to raw skill.
Personality
Ikkanil is ... maladjusted, to put it mildly. Taciturn in the extreme, he would much rather let others do the rambling and bossing and talking. He is very smart (IQ = 170), but doesn't really see the need to assert himself as a commander. In the few cases he's been pressed to do this, he's acquitted himself well, however. Simply, Ikkanil would much sooner keep his mouth shut than leave even the slightest chance of putting his foot in it.
Ikkanil has a pronounced sense of wanderlust, as well as a mild case of agoraphobia. Generally, these two points combine to make him wary of large cities, crowds, and generally interested in staying in smaller towns, villages, civilized lands, and wildlands.
Ikkanil is also mildly clinophobic (afraid to sleep/rest). He sleeps in the morning hours, from before sunrise to about 9-10am, whenever he has the option. He judges this to be the safest time of day to be immobile, with night predators probably not being out, and day predators not yet awake. It is, perhaps, no surprise that he also suffers from an epic case of insomnia.
Ikkanil has grown more at-ease with people as a function of time and continued social experience. While agoraphobia is clearly a fixture of his personality, and he is tacturn, he isn't grating or truely fearful in/of society.

Trivia
- The name "Ikkanil" is derived from a Japanese word for "link" as in "to connect", an homage to the character upon whom Ikkanil is (very) loosely based.
- "Kaepora Gaebora" is a further homage to the above
- Ikkanil has the most complex class progression of any of The Conscripts. It is estimated that, by character level 6, Ikkanil's progression will be composed of two different base classes, two racial paragon classes, and one prestige class.
- Ikkanil's Horse is unnamed, and has been stolen at least 3 times.
