Diluvium Ignis

From Rathe

A spiritu fornicationis,

Domine, libera nos.

From the lightning and the tempest,

O Lord, deliver us.

From the place of ground zero,

O Lord, deliver us.

From the curse of the Fallout,

O Lord, deliver us.

Peccatores,

te rogamus, audi nos.

That thou wouldst spare us,

we beseech thee, hear us.

That thou wouldst pardon us,

we beseech thee, hear us.

That thou wouldst bring us truly to penance,

te rogamus, audi nos.

The Rain of Fire

The Diluvium Ignis was an event in (very) recent history which shook the very core of the world of Rathe. It was this event which was responsible for the great crater which now scars the world to the north-northeast of the great lake. The event caused great earthquakes and threw a column of smoke and fire into the sky. Few know why it occured, ending thousands of lives, but those who have knowledge of it will speak of a great evil, the raping of an entire culture, and the return of a Dark Lord. The Flame Deluge, many say, was the finger of the gods reached out to destroy the Dark Lord at his weakest moment, that time when his spark of life entered the world. Was the slaughter of thousands of innocents realy nesessary? Or perhaps it was the lesser of two evils...

Report of Minister Xaphos

"We are still looking into the causes of the Flame Deluge in hopes of preventing any repeat of such an incident. Through data collected from various sources, including the Scarlatos Mine's quakemography equiptment and various scry-witness reports, we are starting to piece together the puzzle. The explosion took place in the early morning on the 1st of November, 1301 and is estimated to have been in the unpresidented 490 tetrafireball range. The explosion instantly incinerated everything in a 300 mile radius, with the force of the blast pushing earth to form a crater 800 miles from end to end. Fire continued to rain from the sky for most of the day, finally letting up mid-evening. It has been discovered that the land, water, and air in the area have become heavily tainted. It is advised that no one enters the blast zone without a minimum of a level A2 ward against evil. Concerning the lingering black clouds above the region, it is unknown how long they will remain but rest assured, they will not "blot out the sun and freeze the earth" as some fanatics would have us believe."
